birthday brunchie

Last weekend, Alex and I celebrated my birthday with the brunch buffet at Colette Grand Cafe. My birthday is actually on the 27th, but we have birth prep class this weekend (omg), so we decided to celebrate a little early!

I didn't initially intend for this post to be a review - but after tasting this food, it would be irresponsible of me not to tell you how f'ing amazing it was.

I'm sure we can all appreciate the value of a buffet. You get to choose many items, all for one price. But how often can you say each of the dishes you sampled were truly delicious? Gourmet, even?
This was the case at Colette.
I don't consider myself a picky eater, but I maintain a (mostly) vegetarian diet so I do have certain restrictions. This was not an issue. I had 5 or 6 plates of food and there were many things I didn't even get to sample because I was too full. (Being 8 months pregnant doesn't leave me a ton of extra space!😜)
There were custom omelettes and crepes, pancakes, eggs benny, chicken & waffles (Alex's personal fave), waffles with fresh whipped cream & strawberries, salmon wellington, and croissant bread pudding. I've never really known what bread pudding is - but this stuff was ah-mazing.
Of course there were the usual suspects - bacon, sausage, potatoes, and avocado toast - plus a seafood bar, a salad bar, and pretty much any dessert you could ever want. And on top of that, the coffee, tea and juice were all included, which was a pleasant surprise as many buffets charge extra for those luxuries!
Last but not least, the service was outstanding. It really put the cherry on top of a fabulous meal!

I apologize that I don't have more food photos to share, but you know, when you're eating for two the food doesn't stay on the plate very long!😅
