review: la palma

This year, I thought I might start writing some restaurant reviews, since I am always looking for new places to try, and I have a lot of opinions (lol).

Recently, after much anticipation, I was able to try La Palma, and I have to tell you it did not disappoint. In fact, I was thoroughly impressed.

I met some blogger friends, Kristin and Natalie, for brunch - though I will clarify we arrived too late for the full brunch menu - and we showed up sans reservation. #organized.

The place was packed, so we were directed towards the bar. Generally speaking this is not my preferred seating, however the service we received from the bartender was above and beyond. He was friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating of dietary restrictions, and most importantly, he made a mean cocktail.

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a pretty and delicious cocktail. I like my drinks boozy but not tasting boozy, and they must be instagrammable. These checked all. the. boxes. ✅

I had been curious about the salmon, because having been vegetarian for about 12 years, fish kinda freaks me out. BUT, I try to incorporate it on occasion for some extra protein. Our bartender described the dish, and explained that the salmon is cooked using the sous-vide technique (which I recently learned about!), and I decided to go for it.

I have to tell you, speaking as someone who doesn’t even really like fish, the salmon was amazing! Like, perfection. The dish had avocado, which complimented the fish so well with its buttery texture, and small citrus portions cut the creamy flavour just enough.

I mean, how pretty does this look?!

I finished with an almond milk latte (as if I have to tell you that), and it too was delish. I’m pretty picky about my almond milk bevvies ‘cause they often taste like cardboard - but rest assured my dairy-free friends - you’ll be satisfied with La Palma’s take.

Overall, I would give my experience at La Palma 10/10. I am dying to go back and try more of their offerings, so if anyone needs a date, holla.
