5 day food diary

Over the course of my pregnancy, I gained 37 pounds. If you're not familiar - this is totally normal, but a little alarming nonetheless. I lost 13 with the birth, almost 7 of which was Milo, but after that nothing really happened. The first 6 weeks were a pretty major adjustment period, so there were a lot of donuts and pizza involved. But after that I wanted to get back to *me*, so I cut out some of the crap. I'm a big believer in not depriving yourself of things you really want, so I don't really do "strict" diets, but here's a look at what I ate to shed the pounds.

monday

breakfast - vanilla greek yogurt with strawberries, peaches, banana & coconut
lunch - mixed green salad with cucumber, tomato, avocado, bocconcini & balsamic vinaigrette
dinner - veggie sushi - avocado cucumber roll & sweet potato tempura roll

tuesday

breakfast - oatmeal with almond milk, blueberries & hemp seeds
lunch - whole grain veggie fajita & greek yogurt
dinner - wendy's apple pecan chicken salad (without chicken) - I was actually pretty impressed by this salad, it's made fresh so you can order it without meat (many places you can't), and it comes with blue cheese! #nom

wednesday

breakfast - today's breakfast was coffee. I'm not proud of it but, #lifewithababy
lunch - oatmeal with almond milk & blueberries
dinner - gluten free pasta with tomato sauce & asiago

thursday

breakfast - vanilla greek yogurt with peaches & coconut
lunch - whole grain veggie "breakfast" burrito
dinner - black rice veggie stir-fry

friday

breakfast - smoothie bowl with banana, coconut, hemp & chia seeds
lunch - mixed green salad with tomato, cucumber, avocado & balsamic vinaigrette
dinner - tomato & avocado sandwich with basmati

This is a very summarized version of how I ate for about 2 months. I'm vegetarian, so it's a lot of yogurt and salads and stir-frys. Of course I would snack, on things like sweet potato chips & hummus, or apples & peanut butter, but I skipped dessert. Now that I've lost the majority of my baby weight I still eat like this most of the time, but I allow myself the pizza or wine or whatever I'm craving. It's all about balance!
