mom bod

The #dadbod had a pretty big moment last year, so I'm gonna go ahead and make the mom bod a thing too.

I was a little horrified that I couldn't slip back into my "normal" clothes right after having Milo, especially having had such positive reinforcement from friends and family who told me the weight would "fall right off". Well, it didn't fall right off. I lost 13 pounds in birth, almost 7 of which was the little guy, and four weeks later I'm down another 7. Not a total lack of progress, but I'm feeling pretty awkward. I have a layer of chub around my belly, and my butt and thighs have gone up three pant sizes. I know, I know - I had a baby. But I wanna wear my cute spring clothes, damn it! The reality is, my leggings are still the only (non-maternity) pants that fit me. At least they're comfy, right?

I found this cute off the shoulder top at Old Navy, and I love it for a few reasons. First, the off the shoulder trend is huge this spring. I'm so happy I was able to find a flowy OTS piece that will fit me now and when I lose the baby weight. Second, it's done in a black linen which is super lightweight, and also slimming - so high five there. 😉 Last but not least, it has these cute little ties around the wrists which give it a little something extra. I can't wait to pair this piece with some destructed white skinnies ASAP!
